In the period of Satar of Imam-al-Zamaan(sa),
Dawat Fatemiyah was faced with the daunting task of protecting
the beliefs, traditions and customs of Fatemiyeen and ensuring that its followers
head on the right path and do not go astray. Duat Mutlaqeen(ra)
invested huge efforts in guiding momeneen towards this goal. They emphasized on
the importance of al Quran and in the process provided an impetus
for its Funun.
Eight hundred years later, contemporary to the world civilization going into a spin
due to huge advances in science and technology, the Fatemi dai Syedna Taher
Saifuddin(ra) faced a dual natured challenge: How to keep intact the
age long, deep rooted concepts of Duat Fatemiyeen(ra) and how to
take full advantage of the benefits of new techniques, methods and systems. The
later had to be blended to the former in such a way that not only harm was avoided
to the original inherited ideas of the ages, but, in fact the new technologies and
scientific approach would help in their application. In this way optimum benefit
could be derived from them. All this had an obviously positive effect on Funun-ul-Quran.
Calligraphy, design, architecture and a host of other minor arts started to play
an important role in the variety of projects like zarihs, qebaab
etc. A great deal of emphasis was given to revive these arts with a Fatemi flavor
and taste.
The iftetah of al-Anwer proved to be a turning point in the history
of Fatemi Dawat. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin(tus),
during one of his sermons during Ashara announced "we have returned exactly
as we had gone from here." It was the completion of a cycle that cammenced
with the satar of Fatemi Imam and concluded with the return of
Fatemi Dai to Misr. It marked the revival of the Fatemi beliefs, tradition, arts
and customs. From this defining point in the history of Dawat unto the present
day it has been a vertical rise towards new heights of glory.
